What better question to ask on National Handwriting Day? It’s a question I’d never considered until my interview with Allison at The Budget Maven last August.(You’re so creative, Allison!)

I’m not a fan of my own handwriting. Sometimes I can’t even read it. But here’s one fact we can’t deny: Our handwriting is unique. It sets us apart from standard fonts tapped on a keyboard.

Think back to how you felt the last time you peeled open a sealed envelope and read the written word. Did it not exude a love that far surpassed the luxury of perfume-scented paper?

I plan to take full advantage of National Handwriting Day by celebrating it in at least one of the following ways:

  • Tucking a handwritten note to the hubster in his coat pocket before he leaves for work. It’s sure to warm the heart long after the hands have fallen cold.
  • Writing to those who have greatly influenced my love for prose & poetry…and the greatest Word of all.
  • Beginning a new poem—on paper, with my favorite fountain pen in hand.

How will you choose to celebrate National Handwriting Day?

And by the way, I have to ask. Do you like your own handwriting?

Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.
