Last night, while Beth and I waited for our food to arrive, a young man dressed in full Army attire approached our table. I thought he knew Beth, she thought he knew me. He smiled and shared that when he dines out he likes to pick up the tab of another person in the restaurant.
Beth and I were both stunned and overwhelmed by his generosity. We thanked him for his service to our country and offered to pick up his tab instead, but he insisted.
Our food arrived as he walked back to his car. Beth prayed for our meal, but especially for the angel in fatigues, asking God to bless him in the same way he blessed us.
Who can we bless today?
Cathy, what a heartwarming story! I am so glad you shared this. Something like this happened to me several years ago when I was traveling alone. I pulled into a McDonald's drive-through. When I drove up to the window to pay, the cashier told me that the person in the car ahead of me had already paid for my food. The cashier then said that the person told her to tell me to have a blessed day. Wow! But for your story, I had nearly forgotten that act of kindness.
Thanks Cynthia! Unexpected kindness is a blessing (so are you!).
This is something I will always remember!!!! Now to do the same for someone else . . .
Me too, Beth. 🙂
What a wonderful story. Thanks for sharing it.
Thanks, Ellen!
I have a nephew who just returned from Iraq and a son-in-law stationed in Germany preparing for deployment to Afghanistan. This has deeply moved me when we are seriously questioning why our troops are being put in harms' way each and every day and this one soul has taken in upon himself to do such a selfless deed.
Thank you for sharing this!
Thank you for sharing, Brenda. I know you're thankful to have your nephew home safely. Your son-in-law will be in my prayers. God bless him.
what a wonderful and blessed moment – -from someone who already gives so much and asks nothing in return. thanks for sharing.
So true, Rory! By the way, I enjoyed your Wordy Wednesday post. 🙂
An amazing "feel good" story. Thank you for sharing, and I hope you don't mind that I'll be sharing it also.
I don't mind at all. Thanks for stopping by!
