Blooming in my yard today.
The first two – Winter Daphne and Winter Honeysuckle –
fill the air with Spring-like fragrance.
Do you also hurry, half-dressed and barefoot, into the garden,
and softly,
and exclaiming of their dearness,
fill your arms with the white and pink flowers,
with their honeyed heaviness, their lush trembling,
their eagerness
to be wild and perfect for a moment, before they are
nothing, forever?
– excerpt from Peonies, Mary Oliver (a favorite poet of mine)
Pretty Cathy. I can't believe you got out there in this weather to take the picture. That's dedication! Brrrrrr.
I'm not sure I'd call it dedication, Ellen. I cheated and took the pictures yesterday before the sleet began. π
Thanks for stopping by!
So pretty, Cathy! We're snow-covered today, but 60 degree temps on the way next week. Gotta love southern winters!
Indeed! Although I admit I was hoping for snow, not sleet. π
How can I build Piper a snowman with drippy precipitation? lol
Beautiful photos, Cathy! Love the poem, too. π
Well, maybe it isn't dedication Cathy. But it IS smart. π
Thank you, Vonda. π I always enjoy beautiful blooms — especially in the dead of winter.
Ellen, that's funny! I'm not sure if I'm either but I appreciate the thought. ha!!
What??? Where do you live girl!
All I see in my yard is SNOW!!!!
Beautiful flowers. π Love, Hester π
Hester, I live in the upstate of SC! We enjoy all four seasons but all are relatively "mild" compared to other areas in the US.
I love being 40 minutes from the mountains and 4-1/2 hours from Myrtle Beach!
Have a great weekend, my friend. π
