Because that’s what we do, right?
As our nation slowly unfolds into a new normality, we’re all navigating what it means to go to church, to gather with friends, and to eat out {thanks to Chick-fil-A, I conquered this one early on.} But here’s one truth we know:
We can help others draw closer to Christ from behind our doors or in person. That’s the beauty of the show-up.
Every season offers unique opportunities to share the gospel. With daylight stretching long into the night, open pools of water, and enough iced tea to serve the south, summer is definitely no exception. And aren’t we blessed? Regardless of where we find ourselves during these trying times, we can joyfully love and serve in small but meaningful ways.
God specializes in multiplying our meager offerings for glory’s gain.
A poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a few cents. Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others.” Mark 12:42, 43
A couple of years ago, I created Ten Ways to Show Up for Others This Summer, an exclusive download for the {a-mazing!} subscribers of this community. And now it’s available here. So put your own God-given creative spin on these ideas and let’s redeem the days of summer! Some ideas have been tweaked in light of our nation’s current situation but there’s enough space for us all, masked and unmasked.
What’s your favorite part of summer? Is there a particular way you minister during this season? Do share!

Love these thoughts, Cathy: “We can help others draw closer to Christ from behind our doors or in person. That’s the beauty of the show-up. “God specializes in multiplying our meager offerings for glory’s gain.”
We often forget how we spiritually encourage and influence others. And we underestimate how God multiplies everything we offer up to Him.
Yes and amen, Karen! God is a multiplier of all good things! Blessings, friend.
I’m an in-person kinda’ gal! I just hosted The Red Carpet Cafe (my Women’s Bible study group) Sunday evening in my back yard. We even had someone new join in the fun. Pizza, watermelon, S’mores made over the fire pit, and just some good ‘ole conversation. This was a gathering to kick-off the summer and the end of our COVID-19 Zoom mtgs! We had a blast!
What a great idea, Melanie! Our small group is coming over tomorrow night (first in-person gathering) to sit by the pool but I’m loving the pizza, watermelon and S’mores. 🙂 And “The Red Carpet Cafe” sounds like a delightful gathering.
Now I am craving Chick-Fil-A! My small way of ministering is my artwork. I create a lot of pieces that are inspired by Bible verses. I hope there will be more local shows again soon.
I love your artwork, Robin! And I especially appreciate how you reach out to others through it. Praying local shows start again soon. 🙂 Thanks for taking the time to share. Blessings!
Great ideas! My favorite part of summer is…hmm. More light! I am definitely part moth 🙂 I can’t think of a particularly summer-ish way I minister. But you’ve got me thinking! You have a gift for doing that
Ha!!! I also love the extended hours of sunlight BUT I am not a fan of the heat. 🙂 Thanks for taking the time to share, Charla. Have a great weekend!
Wonderful ideas, Cathy! I have been writing cards during this time. I love the idea of a turquoise table – though I would then be sitting on a dirt road…Lots of great ideas here. 🙂
Making and writing cards — what a gift, Angie!
