Just the name Blackberry Cottage stirs excitement in the heart! It’s here we’ll be staying when we head up to the beautimous NC mountains for a weekend getaway in a couple of weeks.
Lord willing, we’ll pop into our favorite antique stores, the local health-nut bakery, and the oh-so amazing pizzeria—but most of all, I’m looking forward to rocking on the porch, breathing in elevated air, and seeing where my pen will lead.
A lot of people will be heading to the beach this summer. I know at least one friend who’s heading to Alaska, and my parents will soon be cruising to Spain, France, Italy and Greece. Long vacations are always nice (can’t wait for our annual family beach trip!) — but mini-getaways certainly have their place in our hectic world.
So…if you had the opportunity to choose a destination within 100 miles of your home, where would you go?
WOW you have me thinking — I'd probably pick the beach first off, but that's almost in my backyard so I'll pick something else.
I think I would chose the hill country of Texas. There is so much to do in a small radius between San Antonio and Austin. My favorite there float the Guadalupe River. Beautiful scenery and peaceful moments.
Welcome, Alene! How nice to have the beach in your "backyard." 🙂
The hill country sounds divine…and peaceful.
Thanks for stopping by!
Have fun Cathy! That cottage looks like a place I would want to go. 100 miles from here . . . hhmmm . . . not sure – the beach is too far, but somewhre definitely in the mountains. 😉
Bless your weekend,
Love, Hester 😉
I would choose a cabin in the mountains without a phone or television. Wish I had said cabin in my yard! I am blessed to wake to mountain beauty every morning.
Hester, we're apparently kindred spirits — love the Lord…and the mountains!
Dee, you live my dream. 🙂
Love to you both!
That place looks GREAT! If I'm thinking without kids, then we usually find a bed and breakfast up near Flatrock or Waynesville and catch a play at the Flatrock playhouse if they have a good one. Comedies are definitely our favorites!
Celeste, we love Flat Rock too!! That's where we stayed last year — and of course, a visit to Carl Sandburg's home is a must!!! I never tire of touring it.
It's been awhile since I've been to the FR Playhouse but it is great. 🙂
Thanks for sharing!!!
