For the past twelve years, I’ve driven a red 1999 Honda CRV. Recently, a friend I’d not seen in five years tracked me down in the produce section of Publix because she’d seen my CRV and knew I was there. This is why I decided to feature my new ride today—a 2008 Honda Odyssey.
For family and friends in town, this may not be as distinctive as a bright red cherry on wheels but hopefully you’ll spot me. Just look for a black Odyssey with an open sunroof and a woman pushing the button on her steering wheel to up the volume (unless Piper is in the back, of course. 🙂
Some have asked “Why a van?”
Two reasons alone dictated this choice:
1. Grandchildren. It’s one of the safest and roomiest vehicles on the road.
2. My traveling woes. We’re hoping a DVD player playing Lark Rise to Candleford in the backseat will help in those efforts. And I’m sure the grandchildren won’t mind it either.
Have a great weekend, everyone!
Oh wow, Cathy. So you're saying I may actually GO BACK to the minivan stage of life? And here I am, loving my Ford Escape (a very CRV-ish little ride). But I have a feeling that when I have little sweeties looking up and me and wanting to go on an adventure … if need be, I'd drive a station wagon with wood paneling 😉
Excited for your new ride!
Trust me, Susan. When your little sweeties come along, you will do things you never imagined — and you'll never regret it for a moment. 🙂
Whooo hooo! I love it when I see grandparents with a van! 🙂 My brother has this van and they love it.
God bless your weekend,
Enjoy your ride, 😉
Hester, 😉
Thank you, friend. 🙂
Your blog post today was awesome! (No surprise!)
Love your van! We got our first van when the kids were young and we had so many fun road trips and vacations before they grew up. I still see Brad and Brooke stashing goodies in the little compartments on their side of the van. Sometimes I would hide little treats for them in those hidey- holes. I wish you and your precious sweeties beautiful memories of fun time together. Be safe and enjoy your new ride. Love you.
Thank you sweet Dee. I like the hidey-holes idea. 🙂
Miss you lots!
So you finally did it! Replaced the CRV. Good for you. Am sure you and the kiddos will have many great adventures in it.
Thanks Ellen! Hope to see you soon. 🙂
And here I am still in my 1996 red Toyota pickup. Faded to the point I call it May Kay pink. I'll miss seeing that cute red CRV of yours. It was "You". You'll need a front plate for those of us who can't tell one van from another". Perhaps "tea4thee" ?
Ha, Mary!! Maybe you're right. I'll need to get a license plate on the front so you can see me coming from afar, much like the cherry on wheels. 🙂
I took Piper for her first ride last week. She must have enjoyed it because all I heard from the back seat was "Wheeeee!!!"
Thanks for sharing. 🙂
